The Angels Of Edgware Road: 1 x 60'
The Miracle Of Carriage 346: 1 x 60'
available as a finished programme
The Miracle of Carriage 346 tells the miraculous survival story of the passengers on carriage number 346 on the Piccadilly Line which was bombed just outside Kings Cross station on the deepest part of the underground. They describe how they escaped with their lives despite the fact that they were standing just a few feet from the suicide bomber. The blast killed most of the people around them, but incredibly they were spared death because of their positioning in the packed train.
The Angels of Edgware Road reveals how commuters on their way to work spontaneously showed their compassion and love for each other. The actions of the suicide bombers unexpectedly invoked the Blitz spirit, old-fashioned British values of physical courage, camaraderie and the stiff upper lip that were thought to have long disappeared. This extraordinary reaction was best exemplified at Edgware Road where passengers on the bombed underground train –some of them injured themselves- risked everything to try to save the lives of strangers.
