Outright Distribution has announced the launch this month of a significant new fund that is to be invested in a combination of first look deals and advances. The company will have the funds available from the beginning of 2010, primarily for content generated from within the UK and US.
The plan has been approved by the Board of Shed Media plc on the back of a 5-fold increase in Outright’s turnover since its acquisition in 2006.
The distributor is particularly looking for factual entertainment with an emphasis on series of returning potential in the light entertainment and shiny floor genres. Other unique projects from outside these geographies and from other genres such as drama are also being actively considered.
Outright already has a range of successful 3rd party representation agreements in place with leading UK indies such as KEO films, Touch Productions and Catherine Bailey Ltd.
Underlining Outright’s ambitious plans for growth, the company has hired Claudia Danser as EVP, Sales and Co-Productions, Europe. Danser has spent the last 8 years in senior sales positions at BBC Worldwide, managing the regions of Benelux, Scandinavia and Iberia, with her most recent position being Vice President Format Licensing, EMEA at BBC Worldwide .
